Sunglasses are protective eye gears that are more than just fashion statements.

Scientific evidence is pilling up that long-term exposure to invisible ultraviolet radiation can damage the eyes and lead to vision loss. Hence, sunglasses have now become more than just fashion statements. There are countless brands available in the market. Here are five most preferred brands in Nepal.

POLAROID

Price: Rs 5000 to 8000

Polaroid was in vented in 1929 by Dr Edwin Land in the USA. The 2010 Polaroid Collection is built around a simple but stylish range of men’s and women’s designs. The frame shapes feature retro-stylish from the1950’s, 60s and 70’s, while Polaroid’s classic Aviators, big tear-drop and cat’s eye frame style have made a comeback with the 21^st century twist featuring the decorative design.

P4941, P4039, P4022 are the latest models from Polaroid. “Its feature glare-free vision, natural colors, 100 per cent UV protection, reduced eye fatigue and clear contrasts”, says Jagdish Parajuli, incharge of Watch and see-Nike/Baleno Store, at Durbar Marg.

VOGUE

Price: Rs 8000 to 12000

Vogue sunglasses are extremely popular, especially among the ladies with a passion for the fashion. The brand caters to women who seek a youthful, glamorous look. Romance and glamour are the hallmarks of Vogue eye-wear. Vogue sunglasses are available in a variety of styles, designer fashion, frames and colours.

S2616, S3676 are the latest models. “One of the most important features of Vogue sunglasses is their peculiar colours, like rose, red and yellow”, says Shishir Pandy, salesperson of Nemkuls at City Center.

GIORGIO ARMANI

Price: Rs 10000 to 32000

Giorgio Armani sunglasses were named after well known Italian designer. He established the collection of sunglasses in 1975.

GA 764/s, GA 763/s are the latest model among the others. “Armani sunglasses are known for their sleek design and superior crafts manship. The frames of these glasses make a fashion statement”, says Birendra Shakya, proprietor of Gift House at Bishal Bazar.

 

RAY BAN

Price: Rs 8000 to 28000

It is established in 1937; Ray Ban has been creating exceptional designer sunglasses using the highest level of technology and innovations. It is the brand of famous optical company Bausch and Lomb. It is originated as a official eyewear of the United State Air Force. In 1999, Bausch and Lomb sold the brand to Italian Luxottica Group.

Aviator RB 3025, Wayfarer RB 2140, Club master 3016 are the latest model. “Around 80% of Ray Ban shades are available in store are regular modable and 20% are designer modable.”Says Rajju Shakya in charge of Gift house of Bishal Bazar
